Long Distance
For movers in Rancho Bernardo, Escondido Signature Moving moves houses, condos and parents downsizing, packs a little or all of it, keeps furniture in storage between homes and moves the piano. RB is fifteen minutes down the 15 from the yard.
RB is a quick run down the 15, so no trip charge. Most of it was built as one planned community, and that makes our days here predictable in a good way: tile roofs, one-story layouts, an HOA rulebook, and a lot of people trading a big house for something easier.
Contact UsTwo questions for your HOA before you book: what hours can a truck sit on the street, and do they want a certificate of insurance? Most RB associations want both. Give us the management office's email and the certificate is there days ahead.
Moving from a house to a smaller place? Decide what goes before the walk-through. It sets the crew size and the price, and it keeps the new place from filling up with boxes nobody opens for a year. We did about 900 moves last year, and the calm ones all started with that list.
Contact UsRancho Bernardo joined the City of San Diego in 1962 and was built out as a master-planned community through the 1980s. That shows on moving day. Streets are wide, most homes are single-story with an attached garage, and the HOA usually has a rulebook. The challenges are less about stairs and more about long hallways, tile floors and fitting a lifetime of furniture into a smaller home.
One-story houses are the easiest kind to move out of, as long as the floors are looked after. Floor runners go from the front door to every bedroom over the tile and wood, and door jamb protectors go on every frame. A dresser corner never touches paint.
Many RB moves are someone leaving a home they have owned for thirty years. We go slower here on purpose. Every box gets a room label and a short note, the bed goes together first and the kitchen gets unpacked enough to make dinner that night.
We've moved a lot of RB couples out of the house they raised their kids in. Last fall one couple off Bernardo Oaks Drive had 41 years of things and a two-bedroom condo waiting. We measured every wall in the condo first, and the dining set that would not fit went to their daughter in a separate drop. Beds made by supper.
RB has a big business district along the 15, and lots of people rent nearby to be close to work. Condo moves here usually mean booking the elevator, a set time at the loading zone and pads hung on the elevator walls.
Most Rancho Bernardo moves cost $435 to $2,025. A two-person crew with the truck is $145 an hour, a three-person crew $185 and a four-person crew $225, with a three-hour minimum and no trip charge. A two-bedroom condo takes four to six hours. A four-bedroom single-story house with a full garage takes seven to nine.
| Rancho Bernardo move | Movers | Clock hours | Ballpark cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1-bedroom condo | 2 movers | 3 to 4 | $435 to $580 |
| 2-bedroom condo or townhome | 3 movers | 4 to 6 | $740 to $1,110 |
| 3-bedroom single-story | 3 movers | 6 to 8 | $1,110 to $1,480 |
| 4-bedroom house | 4 movers | 7 to 9 | $1,575 to $2,025 |
Those are 2026 numbers for moves inside RB or to Escondido, Poway and San Marcos. A packing day, storage or a piano is priced separately and listed on the same written estimate, with a not-to-exceed number at the bottom.
We move what goes to the new place, store what the family wants to keep and leave the rest for you to donate or sell. Furniture going to storage gets wrapped and loaded into its own vault so it never mixes with the move. Each storage vault is lined with moving blankets before the first piece goes in.
Our packers do the kitchen, the china cabinet and the books, with a dish pack for plates and glass and a wardrobe box for each closet. Pack the easy stuff yourself if you want to save money, and leave the fragile rooms to us.
Small offices, clinics and studios near the business park move after hours or on weekends so nobody loses a work day. We label every desk and monitor by floor plan.
Retirees moving closer to family out of state get a walk-through, a written binding estimate and a plain talk about coverage, including full value protection. The free basic coverage covers just 60 cents a pound, which is about $30 for a 50-pound TV. We have 16 movers and 4 trucks, and our out-of-state team handles about one in four of our moves.
People here remember October 2007. The Witch Fire tore through Rancho Bernardo and destroyed hundreds of homes, and some of our customers now move into houses rebuilt on those same lots. Every fall RB move gets a backup date in case the Santa Ana winds bring a red flag warning.
Traffic is the other thing. The 15 through RB backs up southbound in the morning and northbound in the late afternoon, so we time the drive between houses for midday when we can. Our 4 trucks are in RB most weeks of the year.
In our experience the hard part of an RB move is the garage. Thirty years of paint cans, holiday bins and a workbench. Paint and propane can't ride on a moving truck, so sort those out the week before.
Heading east after RB? We also move plenty of families in Poway, just over the hill, where the lots get bigger.
Most do. The usual list is a certificate of insurance naming the association, truck hours on weekdays and Saturdays, and no trucks parked overnight. Send us your management company's contact and we email the certificate before the day. If the HOA has a form for move-ins, we fill out our part.
Yes, it is one of our most common RB moves. We do a walk-through with the family, measure the new apartment, and move only what fits. The rest can go to storage while the family decides. On the day, the bed and the bathroom get set up first.
A three-bedroom single-story home with a normal garage takes a crew of three about six to eight hours, start to finish, for a move inside the area. Add about half a day if we are packing the kitchen and the china, and an hour or two for a piano.
No trip charge. Rancho Bernardo is fifteen minutes from the yard. The hourly clock starts when the crew gets to your door, and the drive between your old and new home is billed at the same hourly rate as the loading and unloading.
Our driveway in Hidden Meadows scares delivery drivers. Ray came out, looked at the hairpin and said they'd bring the small truck and shuttle. Four loads, zero scrapes, beds made that night.
Moved my mom from the house she'd lived in for 40 years into a condo near Kit Carson Park. The crew labeled everything by her new floor plan and set up her bed and reading chair first. She was settled by dinner.
We moved our dental office over a weekend. Every crate was numbered to the new floor plan and the exam chairs were where we wanted them Monday at 8. Price was what they wrote down.
