Long Distance Moving
Out-of-state and up-the-coast moves from North County, priced in writing after we see the house.
Long Distance
Escondido Signature Moving offers packing services Escondido families book for the rooms nobody wants to pack: the kitchen, the china hutch, the garage shelves. A crew of three packs a three-bedroom house in one day, the day before the truck comes, with every box labeled by room.
Hand us the hard rooms and keep the easy ones for yourself
Contact UsPeople pack their own books in an afternoon and then lose a whole weekend to the kitchen. Plates, glasses, the blender, forty jars of spices, the pots that don't nest. Our packers wrap every plate on its edge in a dish pack, which is the double-walled box built for kitchens, and every glass gets its own sleeve. Honestly, the kitchen is where packing pays for itself. It's also where most broken things on a move come from, because they went in a grocery-store box with a dish towel.
Pick how much of the house you want off your plate
Every room, closets and garage included. You walk out of a packed house the night before and come back to load in the morning.
You pack clothes, books and linens. We take the kitchen, the lamps, the mirrors and whatever's left on moving morning.
Glassware, china, framed photos and the TV. Usually two packers for half a day.
The room that eats the most boxes and the most hours. Dish packs, cell kits for stemware and paper for every pot.
A custom wood crate built to size for marble tops, glass shelves, mirrors and art. More on antique and fine art moving.
We empty the boxes into cabinets and closets, flatten them and haul the paper away the same day.
$100 off any full packing day booked with a move.
Packing services in Escondido run about $1,100 to $1,700 in labor for a three-bedroom house in 2026, plus $250 to $500 in boxes and paper. A kitchen on its own costs $500 to $800 with materials. We bill packing at our hourly crew rate, $185 an hour for three packers, so smaller homes cost less.
| Material | What it's for | Price each |
|---|---|---|
| Small box (1.5 cubic feet) | Books, canned food, tools | $3 |
| Medium box (3 cubic feet) | Toys, pans, small appliances | $4 |
| Dish pack | Plates, bowls and glasses | $9 |
| Wardrobe box | Hanging clothes | $18 |
| Mattress bag (queen or king) | Keeps the mattress clean | $12 |
| TV box | Flat screens up to 65 inches | $45 |
You only pay for what we use. Unopened boxes come off the bill, and we take them back with us.
Our three packers show up at 8 with the boxes already folded in the truck. One takes the kitchen, one starts upstairs, and one handles the garage and anything awkward. Each box gets the room name, a short list of what's inside and a number on the inventory sheet. By late afternoon a three-bedroom is done, the beds are still up for one more night, and the coffee maker is the last thing in the open-first box. Beds made by supper.
Pack your own books, linens, clothes and toys and leave the breakables to us. That trims about a third off a full packing day. In our experience, the families who split it this way spend the least and break the least.
Open liquids, propane, paint, pool chemicals, ammunition and anything perishable stay off the truck. We also leave jewelry, cash, medicine and important papers for you to carry yourself, so nothing personal goes missing in a stack of 120 boxes.
Moving boxes for a 3-bedroom house in Escondido usually number 100 to 150, plus five or six wardrobe boxes and three or four dish packs. Add 20 more if the garage is full. A two-bedroom apartment runs closer to 50 to 70.
What our packers wish every customer knew before they taped the first box
Books in a big box weigh 80 pounds and split open. Keep every box under 50.
A box that rattles is a box that breaks. Crumpled paper in the corners and the top.
Stand plates up like records in a crate. They take a bump far better on edge.
Five boxes a night for two weeks beats 70 boxes the night before. We see the second plan every week, mostly from families moving out of Lake San Marcos condos and Carlsbad rentals in a hurry, and you can book us for apartment moving too.
A crew of three packs a two-bedroom home in five to seven hours and a three-bedroom house in one full day. Kitchens, home offices and full garages add the most time. Very large homes take two days, so we book packing a day or two before the truck and the beds stay up until the last night.
No. Packing is a separate line on your written estimate, billed at the same hourly crew rate as the move plus the boxes and paper we use. Loading, moving blankets on furniture and stretch wrap are part of the move itself and cost nothing extra. You can add packing for one room or the whole house.
Yes. Boxes our crew packs are covered by the protection you pick for the move, basic or full value protection. Boxes you pack yourself are covered too, unless the damage comes from the way they were packed, like loose plates in a box with no paper. That's one more reason to let us take the breakables.
Yes. We unpack at the new house at our hourly rate, put dishes in cabinets and clothes in closets, then flatten the boxes and haul away the paper. Most customers have us unpack the kitchen only, which takes two packers about three hours, and do the rest themselves over the first week.
Yes. We drop off a bundle of new boxes, tape and paper at your house a week or two before the move, priced the same as the table above. Return the unused ones on moving day and they come off the bill. Wardrobe boxes and dish packs are the two we recommend everyone use.
Our driveway in Hidden Meadows scares delivery drivers. Ray came out, looked at the hairpin and said they'd bring the small truck and shuttle. Four loads, zero scrapes, beds made that night.
Moved my mom from the house she'd lived in for 40 years into a condo near Kit Carson Park. The crew labeled everything by her new floor plan and set up her bed and reading chair first. She was settled by dinner.
We moved our dental office over a weekend. Every crate was numbered to the new floor plan and the exam chairs were where we wanted them Monday at 8. Price was what they wrote down.
