Moving and Storage
Vault storage in our indoor warehouse for the weeks or months between one house and the next.
Storage
Escondido Signature Moving is the crew of long distance movers Escondido families call when the new address is in Phoenix, Boise or the Bay Area. We walk the house first, hand you a written price within 24 hours, and pad every piece before it rides.
One crew loads your house, and the same company stays on your load until the last box is inside
Contact UsA long distance move lives or dies on the estimate. If the mover never saw the garage, the patio set and the shed out back, the number is a guess, and guesses grow on delivery day. Ray or one of our estimators walks every room with you, in your living room or over a video call, opens the closets and counts the big pieces. You get the truck size, the crew, the drive and the delivery window in writing. On a July job the truck backs up to your door at 6:30, because we load before the heat.
Where North County families are heading, and how each kind of trip works
Phoenix, Tucson and Las Vegas are the runs we make most. A two or three-bedroom load usually lands in 2 to 4 days, and the driver calls you the night before.
Sacramento, Fresno and the Bay Area stay under California rules, so your not-to-exceed price is on paper before anything is loaded. Figure one long day of driving north.
Texas, Colorado, Idaho and the Northwest ride with our national van line partners, under federal FMCSA rules, and you can track the shipment online the whole way.
When an employer pays, we bill the way their relocation company wants it, with an itemized inventory sheet and photos taken at pickup.
A studio, a few rooms of furniture or one storage unit can share a truck with another family's load. It costs less. The delivery window runs wider, usually 7 to 14 days.
New place not ready yet? Your load waits in storage-in-transit at our warehouse and heads out when you call. More on moving and storage.
Every price gets written after a walk-through. No phone guesses.
Long distance movers from Escondido charge about $3,200 to $5,000 for a two-bedroom going to Phoenix or Las Vegas in 2026, and $7,000 to $11,000 for a three-bedroom headed to Texas. The price follows the weight of your things, the miles, stairs or long carries at either end, and whether we pack for you.
| Trip from Escondido | Home size | On the road | Typical price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phoenix, AZ (about 350 miles) | 2-bedroom | 1 day | $3,200 to $5,000 |
| Las Vegas, NV (about 330 miles) | 2-bedroom | 1 day | $3,100 to $4,900 |
| Sacramento, CA (about 500 miles) | 3-bedroom | 1 long day | $4,800 to $7,500 |
| Dallas, TX (about 1,350 miles) | 3-bedroom | 3 days | $7,000 to $11,000 |
| Boise, ID (about 900 miles) | 4-bedroom | 2 days | $9,000 to $13,500 |
Those ranges come off our own jobs this year. Summer costs more, and October or early November usually saves 10 to 15 percent.
A move from Escondido to Sacramento never leaves the state, so California rules apply. The mover needs a CPUC household goods carrier permit and has to give you the state's consumer booklet. You get a written estimate after they see your things. Skip that, and they owe you a not-to-exceed price, the most you can be billed. Any added charge needs a change order with your signature.
Cross into Arizona or Nevada and the federal rules from the FMCSA take over. Expect the federal booklet Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move and a bill of lading, your contract and receipt on one sheet. Read every line before signing it in the driveway.
Under a binding estimate, the number on paper is the number you pay, as long as the list of things and services stays the same. A non-binding estimate floats with the real weight. Federal rules cap what the driver can ask for on delivery day at 110 percent of it, and anything over that waits a month. We'd pick binding for most families. The number is settled before the truck pulls out.
The free coverage, called released value protection, works out to 60 cents for every pound of the item. Crack a 40-pound TV and the check is $24. Full value protection is extra, and with it the mover fixes the piece, swaps it for a like one or pays today's price. We think that's worth buying for anything you'd be sad to lose.
On a two-bedroom, our crew is in your driveway by 7 and the 26-foot box truck is usually loaded by 1. Most Phoenix deliveries land on day two. Couch in, legs on.
Long distance moving companies that cross state lines must be registered with the FMCSA, so search the name and count the complaints. Walk away from anyone asking for a big cash deposit or refusing to see the house.
Six weeks out is the sweet spot. This is the order we'd do it in.
Every pound rides at a cost, so sell the rowing machine and hand off the spare patio chairs before the walk-through. It's like packing avocado lugs at the grove: what doesn't belong in the crate shouldn't take up room in it.
Ask for the delivery spread on paper. Full loads usually arrive in 2 to 5 days. Shared loads can take 7 to 14.
Call us one to two months out for spring and fall, and two to three months out for June, July and August. The last few days of any month go first, since that's when leases run out. Midweek dates in the middle of the month are the easiest to get, and they often cost a little less.
Most full loads to Phoenix arrive in two to three days: one day to load, one long drive, then delivery. Shared loads, where your things ride with another family's, can take 7 to 14 days. Your written estimate states the delivery window before you book, so you can plan everything else around it.
Interstate moves are billed on pounds and miles, not hours. Moves inside California can be priced either way, but the mover has to give you a written estimate or a capped price first. On weight-based trips the truck crosses a certified scale empty, then again full.
Yes. Most families have us pack the kitchen, the art and anything breakable, and they pack books, clothes and linens themselves. Full packing for a three-bedroom house usually takes one day before the load day. Things we pack are covered by the same protection as the rest of your load.
Gas cans, propane tanks, paint thinner, pool chemicals, fireworks and ammunition can't ride on the truck, and neither can most plants on interstate trips. Drain the gas from mowers the day before. Cash, rings, passports and pills travel up front with you.
Our driveway in Hidden Meadows scares delivery drivers. Ray came out, looked at the hairpin and said they'd bring the small truck and shuttle. Four loads, zero scrapes, beds made that night.
Moved my mom from the house she'd lived in for 40 years into a condo near Kit Carson Park. The crew labeled everything by her new floor plan and set up her bed and reading chair first. She was settled by dinner.
We moved our dental office over a weekend. Every crate was numbered to the new floor plan and the exam chairs were where we wanted them Monday at 8. Price was what they wrote down.
